2019 Housing California Annual Conference 40th Anniversary Logo Design Contest

2019 marks Housing California's 40-year anniversary of the largest conference in the country on affordable homes and homelessness. We ask conference participants to use this milestone year to envision a California in which everyone has a stable, affordable home in a healthy, vibrant, and prosperous community; and shape our future to help meet that shared goal.

What does the future California you want to see look like? How do we get there? Think about these questions and show us your answers through a logo design for the Annual Conference! Write, draw, paint, photograph -- get creative. The winning logo should welcome and inspire conference participants as they come together to answer these same questions.

The purpose of the contest is to design a logo to be used for the 2019 Housing California Annual Conference. The logo will be used in print and electronic media, on merchandise and other visual collateral. The theme of the conference, "Shaping Our Future," should be considered when creating the logo. The following are the official contest rules:

  • Open to all who share the vision of Housing California.

  • Submissions can be from individuals or teams of two.

  • Individuals or teams may submit no more than two entries (a separate entry form must be included with each submission).

  • All submitted work must be original work of the entrant(s) and must not include, be based on, or derived from any pre-existing or third-party designs, trademarks, or copyrighted images.

  • All entries become property of Housing California. By submitting an entry, each entrant agrees, that all intellectual rights in the logo designed are deemed assigned to Housing California.

  • Except where prohibited by law, an entry submission into this contest constitutes the permission to use the winner’s name, likeness, and prize information for publicity purposes, without further permission or compensation.

  • Housing California reserves the right to modify the winning logo to better fit the needs of the conference theme.

  • The decisions of the Selection Committee and staff will be final.

  • The selected winner MUST submit a SCALABLE VECTOR VERSION of the winning design so that it is adaptable to electronic and print media, to reproduction on small and large surfaces, and to use in color and grayscale.

  • Submit your completed form and logo design to hcalogocontest@gmail.com by Wednesday, October 3, 2018.

  • Incomplete or late submission will not be accepted.

A Selection Committee comprised of Housing California Board Conference Committee members and Housing California staff, will evaluate all entries based on the following criteria (though other criteria may be considered):

  • – Does the entry reflect the theme of the 2019 Housing California Annual Conference “Shaping Our Future” and seem relevant to the 40-year history of the conference?

  • – Does the entry showcase original design and creativity?

  • Aesthetic Quality – Do all the elements work together to create a cohesive design? Does it display visual balance? Does the logo look nice in both color and grayscale?
