Redevelopment: Next Steps

URGENT RE: REDEVELOPMENT AND AGENCY OBLIGATION SCHEDULES

Redevelopment housing indebtedness is an "enforceable obligation," says Western Center, so it is imperative that RDA indebtedness to housing funds BE LISTED on the schedules of enforceable obligations.  Read this important memo from Western Center!

TAKE ACTION! Advocates should ensure, encourage, or demand that housing debt is listed by every RDA.

SB 654 --  Housing California is co-sponsoring SB 654 (Steinberg) along with the Non-Profit Housing Association of Northern California (NPH). This bill would help protect existing Low and Moderate Income Housing Funds from dissolving redevelopment agencies.

Update: January 26, 2012 -- SB 654 (which passed unanimously (8-0) out of two Senate Committees) was NOT taken up for a Senate Floor vote today. Senator Steinberg made this decision at the request of the Senate Republican leader who first wants to hold a caucus on the bill.

TAKE ACTION! Send a support letter on SB 654.
