Senate Housing Passes AB 927
On Tuesday, June 19, 2007, the Senate Transportation and Housing Committee passed AB 927 with a 9 to 1 vote. HCA and four senior organizations are co-sponsoring this bill by Asm. Lori Saldaña, D-San Diego.
For the first time, Republican legislators voted for the measure. Senator Bob Dutton, Rancho Cucamonga, and Tom Harman, Huntington Beach, cast "aye" votes after hearing that the bill's approach is similar to that of Dutton's SB 586. Both measures would ensure that particular types of developments are funded by state housing programs (AB 927, senior developments; SB 586, developments in rural counties).
Next, the Senate Appropriations Committee will hear the bill, probably on July 2, 2007.
