Protect Home Affordability in Infill Guidelines --
URGENT ACTION NEEDED TODAY!
February 21, 2008
Attention Developers! Housing California just learned that Senator Perata is pushing the California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) to award 80% of the Infill Incentive Grant Program funds to "areas," leaving only 20% for "projects." (The second-draft Infill guidelines, which we supported, split the funds 58% projects/42% areas.)
URGENT ACTION: Our best shot at keeping funds in the project category is to show how many projects will have funding applications ready this year. We need your help to compile this list. We don’t need a lot of details, but the following would be helpful:
- Name of project
- Location
- Number of homes
- An estimate of how much infill money is needed
Deadline: Any information you can e-mail to Julie Snyder () by 3 p.m. tomorrow, Friday, February 22, would be appreciated!
The final guidelines for the $850 million program can be released as soon as the Business, Transportation, and Housing Agency approves them. Once approved, the guidelines will be posted on HCD’s website.
