No Progress in Governor's Budget on AB 2034

Governor Schwarzenegger has not budged on the AB 2034 program (Integrated Services for Homeless Adults Living with a Mental Illness). The May Revise budget released May 14, 2007 did NOT restore line item funding for this landmark program for the mentally ill homeless. There are several things you can do today to help save this program and keep 4,900 people from becoming homeless.

    1. Rally at the Capitol on May 23, 2007.
Advocates are planning a rally on Wednesday May 23 at the State Capitol in support of AB 2034.

    Schedule of Events

      • 10:00 am--11:30 am -- Education Forum at the Sacramento Convention Center with Keynote Speaker Senator Darrell Steinberg.
      • 11:30 am-12:00 pm -- March with UNITE and Others to the State Capitol
      • 12:00 pm- 1:00 pm -- Rally on the North Steps of the Capitol
      • 1:00 pm-4:00 pm -- Legislative Visits

    2. Donate now to the Red Tent Rally.
We need your help to raise $2,500 for tents and t-shirts. All online donations made between May 3-May 17, 2007 will be used to pay for the tents and t-shirts we need for this important event.

    Donate now.

    (Donations are tax-deductible).

Prefer to send a donation? Please make your check payable to Housing California and send to:

    3. Write to the governor by June 20, 2007.
Express your disappointment that funding for AB 2034 was not included in the May Revise and let him know that he should restore it in the final budget. Mail (Remember to use a 41-cent stamp!) to:

    Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger,
    State Capitol Building,
    Sacramento, CA 95814.
