Jacobs Passes Senate Rules Hurdle
The Senate Rules Committee confirmed Lynn Jacobs, director of the Department of Housing and Community Development, by a unanimous vote on February 14, 2007. In her testimony, Jacobs pledged to support the pursuit of a permanent source of funding for programs that produce affordable homes.
Committee members questioned Jacobs about her ideas regarding Prop. 1C implementation, the effect of the recent freeze on the department’s resources, and her strategies on how the department can assist localities in their planning for housing. The tone of the confirmation hearing was friendly, as several committee members expressed their satisfaction with her qualifications, background, and leadership style.
Next, the full Senate must vote to confirm her.
