Implementation of MHSA Housing Program Grows Closer

The California Housing Finance Agency (CalHFA) recently sent a status report on the Mental Health Services Act (MHSA) Housing Program to the Legislature and the Legislative Analyst's Office as required by SB 257.

SB 257 requires CalHFA to present a plan to the legislature for the development, acquisition, construction, and rehabilitation of supportive homes ("homes with services") that use MHSA funds at least 30 days prior to any commitments being made under the under the MHSA Housing Program. The bill requires the Legislative Analyst's Office to review the plan.

The MHSA Housing Program Financing Application is expected to be finalized in late-June 2007, followed by the release of the Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA).
