Final Budget Outcome Still Uncertain
Early Friday morning, July 20, 2007, the Assembly passed the state’s 2007-2008 budget, but the Senate was unable to come to agreement despite all all-night lockdown that stretched until Saturday morning. The Senate will resume budget negotiations on Wednesday, July 25th.
Though it remains unclear what the Senate version will look like, the Assembly version of the budget bill -- SB 77 -- contains a number of housing-related appropriations on which Housing California expended considerable time and energy. These include:- $4 million for a new, mentally ill parolees program (see next article)
- $300 million from Prop. 1C for infill home development
- $4 million in operating grants for the Emergency Housing Assistance Program (EHAP)
- $55 million for the Integrated Services for Homeless Mentally Ill Program
Once the budget has been finalized, Housing California will provide a detailed synopsis of housing-related and Prop. 1C expenditures, including the Prop. 1C infill home program.
