Ammiano Appointed Chair of Housing Budget Subcommittee

Last week San Francisco Democrat Tom Ammiano took over from Assemblymember Juan Arambula as chair of the Assembly Budget Subcommittee #4. "Sub. 4" oversees the budgets of the Department of Housing and Community Development, California Housing Finance Agency, Tax Credit Allocation Committee, and California Debt Limit Allocation Committee.
In his time as chair, Arambula proved to be an ally of affordable-home advocates. This year he successfully pushed to add funds for the Emergency Housing and Assistance Program to the Assembly's version of the state budget. He also is the author of Housing California-supported AB 570, which modifies the Local Housing Trust Fund Matching Grant Program.
Assembly Speaker Karen Bass shifted Arambula to the chairmanship of the Assembly Public Safety Committee as part of a multi-committee shuffle set off by former-Assemblymember Curren Price's election to the state Senate.
