State Begins to Implement Regional Land Use Law
February 10, 2009
Last week, the state Air Resources Board (ARB) convened the first meeting of its Regional Technical Advisory Committee. The committee will recommend factors to be considered and methodologies to be used by ARB in setting regional targets for the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions from passenger vehicles.
The targets could significantly impact local governments' land-use decisions and, therefore, are of great interest to the affordable-home development community. Mike Rawson, co-director of the Public Interest Law Project, represents the housing community on the committee.
For more information, visit the ARB's website or sign up to receive e-mail about SB 375.
Signed by the governor is September 2008, SB 375 (Steinberg) created the Regional Technical Advisory Committee.
