Meanwhile, Senate Ride Is Much Smoother
Two senate bills affecting Prop. 1C are moving ahead as planned. The Senate Transportation and Housing Committee will hear SB 46 (Perata, infill funds) and SB 586 (Dutton, innovative financing) today.
Housing California has not yet taken a position on either bill, although both reflect key aspects of our proposal. Those aspects include SB 586's allocation of $50 million for property acquisition and $35 million for local housing trust funds. SB 46's positive aspects include allowing the infill funds to be invested in below-market-rate homes and requiring any assisted development to include at least 15% below-market homes and be built at the "Mullin densities."
