World Habitat Awards
The World Habitat Awards were established in 1985 by the Building and Social Housing Foundation as part of its contribution to the United Nations International Year of Shelter for the Homeless.Two awards are given annually to projects from the global North as well as the South that provide practical and innovative solutions to current housing needs and problems. An award of £10,000 is presented to each of the two winners at the annual United Nations global celebration of World Habitat Day.

2008 Awards of Excellence for Affordable Housing Built Responsibly
This is the fourth year of The Home Depot Foundation's Awards of Excellence for Affordable Housing Built Responsibly signature program. The Awards program seeks to identify, recognize and showcase the outstanding and innovative work of nonprofit housing development corporations engaged in green building/healthy home construction and rehabilitation. Our interest is to share with local, state and national stakeholders the exemplary accomplishments of the nonprofit sector in combining affordable housing construction with the guiding principles of green home building in order that low- and moderate-income families have access to quality housing they can afford to own, operate and maintain. How to ApplyAny city or nonprofit organization interested in submitting a Letter of Inquiry (LOI) for the Awards of Excellence Program for Affordable Housing Built Responsibly should use the online submission form.
The deadline for on-line submission of the LOI is midnight, Eastern Standard Time, March 31, 2008. Applications received after the deadline will not be reviewed.

The City Club of San Francisco will once again serve as a fine backdrop to the Affordable Housing Leadership Awards' reception and program. The reception will include heavy hors d'oeuvres, hosted wine and beer, and the famous Chocolate Fountain--back by popular demand. This year music will be provided by Marcus Shelby and his jazz trio.

The 2008 Cushing Niles Dolbeare Media Awards
The 2008 Cushing Niles Dolbeare Media Awards recognize print journalists who do an exemplary job of illuminating the affordable housing crisis in the United States.The awards will honor first-prize winners with a $2,500 prize. Winners will be recognized during a reception on April 20, 2009 in Washington, DC. Honorable mentions will also be recognized. The awards are named in honor of the late Cushing N. Dolbeare, long-time housing advocate and founder of the National Low Income Housing Coalition (NLIHC).
NLIHC is committed to raising awareness about the situation of low income individuals who lack access to safe and affordable homes and solutions.
The goal of the Cushing Niles Dolbeare Media Awards is to recognize print journalists who make a dedicated effort to inform the public about the inequities in housing and to add to the understanding of the disparities between the well-housed and the poorly or un-housed in a community, and to encourage journalists who do not normally cover low income housing issues to do so.

The I. Donald Terner Prize for Innovation and Leadership in Affordable Housing
The Terner Prize recognizes successful and innovative affordable housing projects and their leadership teams. The purpose is to spread Terner’s vision and principles to the planning, design and development professions as well as to public officials, community representatives, housing activists, and government and private funders by identifying best practices in the field.The Terner Prize is being inaugurated to commemorate Don Terner on the tenth anniversary of his death. It will be awarded biennially to the affordable housing project and leadership team that best exemplifies the spirit of Don Terner’s work, commitment to affordable housing.
One winner will be chosen to receive the First Prize Award of $25,000. Five finalist teams will be awarded leadership stipends of $5,000 so that they may “light the light” for the next generation of leaders in the affordable housing industry by participating in conferences, seminars, or colloquia.
A jury to select the finalists and winning team is comprised of people from the fields of planning, architecture, development, finance, government, academia and media. They are chosen for their demonstrated integrity, expertise and commitment to the guiding principals of the Terner Prize.
The Terner Prize is administered by the Center for Community Innovation at the University of California, Berkeley.

2007 Maxwell Awards for Excellence
The Fannie Mae Foundation, in collaboration with the Partnership to End Long Term Homelessness, will present four awards to nonprofit or nonprofit/for profit collaborations to recognize outstanding development of supportive and affordable housing for homeless individuals and families. The Maxwell Awards of Excellence program showcases the outstanding work of nonprofit organizations in developing and maintaining affordable housing. Each 2007 Maxwell Awards recipient will receive a $75,000 grant to continue its work in the field of supportive and affordable housing for homeless individuals and families."As we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Help the Homeless program, we’re extremely pleased to team up with the Partnership to End Long Term Homelessness to identify and highlight some of the most creative and innovative affordable and supportive housing developments for homeless individuals and families across the country," said Peter Beard, executive director of the Fannie Mae Foundation.
