Job Title: Community Liason
Position Description:
The Community Liaison will work closely with the development team to create and implement a community master plan process for the Sunnydale HOPE SF development, a new 50 acre community of public housing units, affordable and market rate units, and community amenities in the Visitacion Valley neighborhood of San Francisco that is accountable to the Visitacion Valley community. Manages a services needs assessment and relocation needs assessment process for 750 households at Sunnydale that will inform the master plan and development of appropriate services for the new community. Coordinates service relationships and agreements among Mercy Housing, its partner Related Company of California, community-based organizations, and city agencies to create a healthy new community at the Sunnydale HOPE SF site. Initially supervises one staff member with additional staff added as needed.
Job Responsibilities Include:
- Recruit, train, and develop the leadership skills of Sunnydale public housing residents and Visitacion Valley residents for their involvement in the community master plan and development process.
- Work closely with the Project Developer and the development team in creating and implementing a community master plan process that meaningfully involves the Sunnydale public housing residents, Visitacion Valley residents, and neighborhood agencies.
- Work with the Vice President of Resident Services and Programs to create and implement an effective assessment tool for resident and community services and the relocation needs of Sunnydale public housing residents; use the information to create resident services, good standing, and relocation plans for Sunnydale HOPE SF.
- Manage a small staff of services case managers and contracts with city and neighborhood service agencies to achieve goals.
- Oversee administrative duties, such as maintaining records and database, writing reports, development and updating of materials, mailings, and facilitating meetings as necessary.
- Work with the development team in building and managing relationships with a large, complicated set of stakeholders.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field preferred.
Experience:
Five years experience working with a volunteer-led, community-based organization providing education, social/human services, and/or program planning and development. Strong track record of working effectively with persons of various ethnicities, educational levels, ages, and social classes. Familiarity with housing and community development is desired.
Abilities:
- Ability to work collaboratively with health care providers, social service agencies, and other community-based organizations.
- Demonstrated skills in community organizing, outreach, and group processes.
- Meeting facilitation skills.
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
- Computer skills including word processing and data base management.
- Ability to work independently with guidance from the supervisor.
- Understand and commit to the Mission and Values of Mercy Housing.
Starting Salary: $63,000 + DOE
