Position Summary:
The City of Berkeley's Mental Health Services Division provides a range of mental health services to clients and the community through its programs. The programs are: Family, Youth and Children's Services, Adult Services Program, the Court Program, Homeless Outreach Team & Mobile Crisis Team.
This Mental Health Program Supervisor assumes an active leadership role in program planning, development implemenatation and evaluation and is responisble for assigned mental health professionals, paraprofessionals and clerical support staff that provide mental health services in a variety of settings.
This classification is represented by Public Employees Union, Local one.
All City employees are required to provide services as Disaster Service Workers in the event of an emergency/disaster.
Required Qualifications:
Possession of a Master's degree in a related field and a current California license as a Clinical Social Worker, Marriage, Family and Child Counselor, Clinical Psychologist, Physician Surgeon or Psychiatric Nurse;
Three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience as a clinician or program administrator. Experience must have included clinical supervision and consultation in a mental health agency setting with a multidisciplinary staff.
Possession of a valid California driver's license and a satisfactory driving record.
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
- Knowledge of:
- Medical Mental health services under the Rehabilitation Option Coordinated Care Model;
- Cultural differences and community mental health clinical practices;
- Current mental health issues; and
- Applicable City, State and federal guidelines and laws affecting mental health treatment, services and reporting procedures.
- Skill in:
- Planning, developing, implementing and directing community mental health programs including needs assessment and evaluation;
- Budgetary administration and control and preparation of grant applications/proposals;
- Effective verbal and written communication;
- Application of community mental health treatment principles and practices; and
- Analyzing complex mental health problems, evaluating alternatives and making sound judgments and recommendations for treatment.
