Working collectively to end hunger and homelessness through public education, technical assistance, public policy analysis, advocacy, organizing and community action. Overall, LACEH&H works to hold policymakers at all levels accountable for preventing and ending homelessness. Specific projects include:

  • Homeless Prevention Project: focused on creating model discharge planning policies and procedures for LA County jails, hospitals and foster care in order that people are not discharged into homelessness.
  • Staff the LA Housing Justice Coalition- organizing and advocacy at the local, state and national levels on Section 8, and other low income housing programs.
  • Homeless Voter Empowerment Project: registering, educating and mobilizing homeless people to vote.
  • We also publish Peoples Guide to Health, Welfare and Other Services in LA County. We distribute over 500,000 copies in LA in 10 different languages. Soon we will be publishing the guide in English and Spanish in 5 additional counties- San Diego, Riverside, San Bernardino, Kern and Orange counties. In addition, we publish the Section 8: Know Your Rights Guide in English and Spanish.
