Since 1988, the City of San José Housing Department has been a model for fostering the creation, retention, and maintenance of affordable housing through progressive planning and development policies; aggressive leveraging of funds; unique partnerships; proactive policy analysis; skilled advocacy; and committed staff.
In addition to providing lower income residents with safe, decent, affordable housing, the Department supports San José as a livable, thriving community through award winning architecture, progressive policies, green building designs, and the dispersion of developments located throughout the City, near transit corridors.
